Cooking Up Confidence in the Kitchen
There’s nothing quite like the energy of a kitchen filled with learning, laughter, and the smell of something delicious baking in the oven. When Amanda, Tyler, and Diana shared that they wanted to build their cooking skills, the Via team jumped into action. Program Manager Samantha and Program Coordinator Julie designed a hands‑on cooking program complete with easy‑to‑follow recipes and healthy ingredient‑swap ideas – and the group brought it all to life in the public kitchen at Easton Public Market.
With support and encouragement from their DSPs Shelby, John, and Miranda, the trio rolled up their sleeves and cooked an impressive spread: homemade pizza, garlic knots, and warm muffins. The kitchen buzzed with teamwork as everyone chopped, stirred, kneaded, and taste‑tested their way through each recipe. And of course, the best reward came at the end – enjoying every bite of the meal they created together.
What made the day truly special was the confidence and excitement everyone took home. Each person left feeling proud of their accomplishments and eager to try new recipes for friends and family. It was a day filled with new skills, shared moments, and a whole lot of fun – a perfect reminder of how empowering (and delicious) learning can be.
