The Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon for Via (LVHN Marathon) is a unique five-person Team Relay, Full and Half Marathon, and 5K Walk. The newly designed course is created by Bart Yasso, Chief Running Officer, Runner’s World Magazine and member of the Running USA Hall of Champions. Runners will love the scenic, net descent course, designed with them in mind.
The new course design eliminates Hope Rd/Gary Ward Hill and takes advantage of the beautiful Lehigh Parkway. Relay legs range from 3.7 to 6 miles, so runners from novice to expert can enjoy the course. With the addition of the popular Half Marathon length, this course has something for everyone. This Marathon is certified and times can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon (Course Certification # PA07016WB).
The 26.2 mile course starts at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown and takes runners through the beautiful Lehigh Parkway to the Lehigh River Canal Towpath continuing through Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton. Along the way, runners will enjoy the scenic beauty of the Lehigh Parkway and the Lehigh River, pass through Bethlehem’s Historic Quarter, utilize miles of beautifully canopied trails including cinder, paved and grass surfaces, and end at the Center Square in Easton.
The LVHN Marathon raises funds for Via of the Lehigh Valley’s Community Connections program for people with disabilities so they can connect and live in their communities. Thanks to the cooperation of the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Salisbury Township, Bethlehem Township, Freemansburg and Palmer Township, this Marathon spans Lehigh and Northampton counties, covering Lehigh Valley Health Network and Via’s service areas, and attracts runners from the entire east coast to raise money for Via.
