Via  How You Can Help Via

Consider Donating to Via through the United Way

September brings back-to-school, cooler temperatures, football and United Way Workplace Campaigns!

Each year, hundreds of businesses and organizations support their local United Way by running a workplace giving campaign. Participation in a workplace campaign allows employees to show their community support, to pay their pledges through payroll deduction and to help dozens of agencies for only a handful of dollars a week.

Now more than ever we encourage those who live and work in the Lehigh Valley to support the United Way. We hope that those who choose to do so consider designating a portion of their gift in support of Via of the Lehigh Valley's programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.

Should you choose to designate Via as recipient of a portion of your United Way pledge, our donor designation number is 18739. Thank you.

Here are some of the ways your pledge will benefit children and adults with disabilities in our region. In 2008-09:

  • Early Intervention provided 177 children from birth to age 3 and their families with speech, physical, and occupational therapies.
  • Sibshops served 18 siblings of children with special needs and trained 22 human service professionals and parents.
  • Community Employment served 267 adults with job development, coaching and follow-along support for jobs in the community and provided small business development assistance to 3 adults.
  • ViaWorks served 26 adults who work in groups of 6 to 8, at employer sites with Via staff support.
  • Via Industrial Services served 99 adults in a sheltered workshop providing light assembly and production work for local companies.
  • Community Mentoring and Retirement activities served 148 adults with social, recreational and volunteer activities in their communities.
  • Via Teen Experience connected 28 teens to their community with career, volunteer, educational, recreational and social activities.
  • Supported Living helped two individuals live independently in their own accessible apartment or home.
  • Last year Via helped 768 children, adults & their families reach personal and professional milestones.
