Jason "J-Mac" McElwain was the manager
of the varsity basketball team at Greece Athena High School.
The 17 year old senior, who is autistic ran drills and the clock
in practice, passed out water bottles, and did whatever was
asked. With four minutes left in the team’s last home
game Coach Jim Johnson put J-MAC in. He proceeded to hit six
three point shots and finished with 20 points and was carried
off the court on his teammate’s shoulders. Since has received
numerous requests for interviews, among them the CBS Evening
News, Good Morning America, and Oprah Winfrey. In July, he received
the prestigious 2006 ESPY award for the Best Sports Moment.
Finally, Columbia Pictures has decided to make a movie on J-MAC's
life story.
